Grey Delight
In the world often in “strong colors” gray, and all its tones, are a sort of comfort zone for many people. It is not so true that it is a “non-color”, it is perhaps more a state of mind, an open idea that can move in multiple directions, become warm, cold, dark, clear, smoky, blue, glacial or sandy, the gray’s is being open to possibilities is to be quiet then, one day, come out with a yellow madness, or a green delirium and displace everyone!
The elegance of gray is undisputed, and also lends itself to a sporting world, is male and female, knows how to be courteous and calm, but at the same time shine like silver.
Oh Cersei, what a wardarobe!
Obviously, when you make costumes, it may happen that someone are asking for a more or less customized reproduction of the costume of a film / television character of the moment so, something of Cersei Lannister could’n miss on my list of works, she is from tv series most succesfull of the last 15years i think: “Games of Thrones”.
We say that the costumistically speaking of this series is undoubtedly crazy, a multitude of details, fabrics, embroidery, particular, pearls, which literally leaves breathless, and with bowed head and knees bent down to me: the level is almost impossible to joint from most of us, but for those who want a “Inspired” suit, I have found little alternative solutions, above all economically, because when we talk about handmade embroidery is not that we can think of spending little money!
“This is the list of workers to this amazing Series : At the beginning of the TV series, lead costume designer Michele Clapton and her team were faced with the massive task of developing all of the unique clothing worn by characters across entire continents.
Besides the main Costume Designer, other major members of the costuming team on the TV series include:
- Michele Carragher (Principal Costume Embroiderer): Carragher worked on the intricate and highly detailed embroidery in the costumes worn by Cersei, Margaery, Sansa, Daenerys, and other major noblewomen.
- Simon Brindle (Costume Armor Supervisor): Brindle’s work focused on actually realizing and constructing the metal armor designs – as opposed to the other members of the costume team that focused on fabrics.
- Kevin Alexander (Hair Designer): Developed the hairstyles of major characters, including managing the 20-30 human hair wigs used in the TV series, which can cost up to $7,000 each.
- Tommy Dunne (Weapons master): Dunne’s work overlapped with the props department: he worked on creating characters’ swords and other weapons, which were part of their “costume” in the sense that characters carried them and the weapons designs reflect part of their characterization.”
This “workers” are a great professional makers,and all we can do is TO LEARN !
This version of Blue-Gray dress is PAINTED and have a little embroidery too, in cotton, AB crystals, glass beads. Obviously is not like the original one, but is in budget for my customer, and was a pleasure do it !
ONLY FOR MEN !
E chi l’ha detto che i costumi belli sono solo da donna? e le lavorazioni importanti, le decorazioni? i ricami ? Quì vi mostro un paio di situazioni che meritavano attenzione per i dettagli pur rimanendo in un contesto elegante e sobrio (nei limiti dell’evento!) un MATRIMONIO ed un BALLO IN COSTUME.

Per il matrimonio, la giacca è stata arricchita con un ricamo in Shantung di seta (che poi è anche il tessuto della cappa) che simula le scaglie di drago, e perle in vetro ed Ematite a dare luminosità al tutto.
Per il ballo invece la giacca ed i pantaloni sono stati decorati con dei ricami in nero e oro, realizzati da Glorys House passamaneria in oro e perle in vetro cucite a mano.

A proposito di “Nehell…enity”
Diciamolo subito, questo costume è “tanta roba” ! Sia per la quantità di tessuto (in totale siamo attorni ai 28/30 metri (tre strati da 4 metri per la parte “gonna” dell’abito + 14 metri di sottogonna + fiocco nella schiena/code del fiocco/corpetto). Ma tanta roba anche sulla parte di ricamo delle perline, tutte in vetro, tutte cucite a mano, un disco alla volta, una perlina alla volta, un dito bucato alla volta !
Cosa vuole dire Nehellenity? niente. Ho giocato fondendo i due nomi dei personaggi a cui si ispira.
Non esiste questo personaggio, questo abito è una fusione dei costumi di due personaggi, molto noti in ambiente anime/manga, ovvero la regina Nehellenia e la Principessa Serenity, entrambe personaggi dell’universo di Sailor Moon, La saga, prodotta da Toei Animation dal 1992 al 1997, è composta da 5 serie televisive, per un totale di 200 episodi complessivi, 3 lungometraggi, 2 cortometraggi e 3 speciali TV. L’abito è stato realizzato su misura e richiesta, e ringrazio Francesca per avermi dato la possibilità di lavorare a questo progetto assolutamente particolare ! Di seguito trovate alcune immagini sulla lavorazione e dell’abito finito!

Ma un bel mantello di quelli veri e fatti bene? A mio modesto parere uno dei più eleganti visti in un film, oltretutto non un film in costume diciamo storico, ma fantascenza.
Un mantello elegante, da “signore” vero, del resto quello indossato da Sith Darth Tyranus o Lord Tyranus, interpretato da Christopher Lee non poteva non essere qualcosa di elegante, raffinato ma marziale e controllato nelle forme.
Ne ho realizzati diversi finora, anche in altri colori, questo delle immagini è in bordeaux classico, vicino a quello del film, la chicca è data dal gancio realizzato da Sonia Telia Curti, di Arte Nascosta che ha realizzato una SPETTACOLARE riproduzione dell’originale. Anche questo mantello è ordinabile, su misura, nel mio COUNT DOOKU ETSY SHOP (completo con il meraviglioso gancio di Sonia ovviamente!).

Questo ordinato su misura da Earl è venuto davvero bello, vuoi per i colori scelti, vuoi per avere un aria “fantasy” senza cadere per forza nell’elfico e senza essere una semplice tunica…insomma, magari a molti non sembrerà nulla di particolare ma, indossato, visto dal vivo, fa davvero la sua porca figura!
